PROPER ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE TREATMENT OF COVID AND NON COVID PATIENTS IN DELHI HOSPITAL; DELHI HC ISSUES NOTICE

The division bench comprising of Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Subramonim Prasad has issued notice in a PIL for the treatment of both COVID and non-COVID in Delhi hospitals to the Delhi Government. In previous order referring to the same PIL High Court directed Delhi government to ensure that the assigned labs in Delhi which were given authority to check and test COVID-19 samples, should make sure that they issue report within 24 /48 hours.

Mr. Rakesh Malhotra , the petitioner  also mentioned  such instances where the non COVID patients were asked to get checked for COVID-19 virus before any further treatment but the hospital could not conduct the test as they were not given the permission to do so by the state government and also through this petition the petitioner wants the government to publish correct data on their websites and also wants  the government or any other authorized treatment centre or treatment of  COVID-19 to update information on their websites regarding the vacant beds  so that no patient has to run here and there.

The petitioner also mentioned that the delay in reports of suspected COVID patients is only leading to multiplication of virus as the suspected patient is not given treatment on time and is therefore carrier of virus until admitted in hospital.

The court will consider the matter next on 11th June.
