Telangana’s Private Medical and Dental College’s vacant seats shall be filled by 31st August

The Supreme Court has issue to extend the cut-off date to fill the vacant postgraduate seats in medical colleges in the State of Telangana. The same seats can be filled by 31st August under the case (Telangana Private Medical and Dental Colleges Management Association v. UOI).

The bench comprising of Justices Rohinton Nariman, Navin Sinha, and Indira Banerjee observed the plea filed by the Telangana Private Medical and Dental Colleges Management Association which emphasised on the point that many seats in the private colleges are lying empty.

It also prayed for waiver of the eligibility cut-off marks criteria for this year’s admission process as the large number of vacancies and the shortage of doctors on the ground.

The court held that pleading was reasonable and extend the cut-off date to 31st August 2020 for the special facts of this case and for this year only.
