SC REJECTS BHUSHAN’s ‘APOLOGY’ AND DECIDES TO HEAR 2009 CONTEMPT CASE AGAINST PRASHANT BUSHAN.

Supreme Court today announces that it will hear the 2009 contempt case against the lawyer cum activist named Prashant Bhushan from 17 th August 2020. The honourable SC denied to accept the explanation provided by Bhushan on account of one of the statement made by later to one of the magazine named Tehelka in 2009, stating that 8 out of 16 Chief Justices in
India(from that time) were corrupt.

A bench of judges felt the need to hear the case and decide whether the statement made by him whereby alleging the Judges to be corrupt leads to contempt of court per se. Bench of Judges hearing this case involves Justices Krishna Murari, Arun Mishra and BR Gavi.
