SC allows NEET on Oct 14 for students who missed exam due to COVID-19

Today, the Supreme Court allowed the candidates who were deprived of appearing in NEET due to the restrictions of covid-19 to appear in the examination on 14 October.

A bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde, Justice AS Bopanna and Justice V Ramasubramanian was hearing the petition and given permission to conduct the NEET examination on 14 October.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the court that the results of NEET examination will be declared on 16 October.

The National Examination Agency (NTA) conducted the NEET examination on September 13 after several public interest litigations filed for postponement of the examination were rejected due to issues like Kovid-19 epidemic and safety and reaching the examination center.

Such petitions were dismissed on 17 August.  After this, the court dismissed the petitions filed for reconsideration of this order.

Subsequently, the court also dismissed the petitions filed for reconsideration of the medical examination on September 9 in view of the increasing number of covid-19 cases.

The court clarified that the results of all NEET candidates will be announced on 16 October.
