SC to hear the matter today the plea seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against Yogi Adityanath

A bench consisting of Chief Justice SA Bobde, Justices AS Bopana & V.Ramasubramanium shall take the plea with an application filled by another petitioner, Anoop Awasthi who has asked in application for the reconstitution of enquiry commission set up by the court to probe into the encounter of the killing of Uttar Pradesh gangster Vikas Dubey.

The petitioner had also filed a petition relating to Vikash Dubey’s encounter in the main petition to the instant plea seeking an independent probe into the matter.

Actually, his plea was filed just a day before the encounter of Vikas Dubey in Kanpur U.P apprehending the gangster’s death by the cops.

The instant plea relates to the statement made by Adityanath in the media “thereby exhorting and supporting the killing of six accused” in which the petitioner avers that it lowered down the authority majesty and dignity of the Hon’ble Court and also said that “interfering in the administration of justice concerning the captioned petition and other connected petition which seeks probe in killing of the six accused covered up the police encounter”.

The Supreme Court on 22nd July approved the constitution of an enquiry commission headed by the Justice BS Chouhan a former Supreme Court Judge to probe into the encounter killing of Vikas Dubey.

The plea had also prayed a thorough investigation into the killing or alleged encounter of the four accused along with the co-accused Vikas Dubey were alleged to involve in killing of eight policemen in district Kanpur 02nd February 2020 which is known as Kanpur Kand and which has shocked the entire nation.
