TEMPORARY BAIL PLEA OF AASARAM BAPU REJECTED BY GUJARAT HIGH COURT

Temporary bail application of Asaram Bapu is rejected by the High Court of Gujarat on the grounds that the huge number of followers of Asaram Bapu will possibly congregate to meet him which is not safe for public during time of this COVID-19 pandemic and will only worsen the situation.

The Bench presided by Justice AS Supehia was hearing a criminal bail application  by Asaram Bapu for seeking temporary bail for period of 4 months on various ground amongst which one ground was that he might possibly get infected of corona virus in jail at Rajasthan.

The counsel submitted that the applicant is 84 years old and also few prisoners were found COVID-19 positive in Jodhpur Jail and Asaram who is suffering from so many ailments is likely to be more prone to get infected by virus.

However counsel appearing for the state government rejected the plea stating that the applicant has given excuses of such grounds previously also and were rejected by High Court and also the jail authority is maintaing conditions well in the jail and trying their level best to prevent the spread of virus amongst the inmates.
